Air Fryer Vegetarian Indian Recipe: Paneer Tikka

Paneer Tikka is a popular Indian dish that is made with chunks of paneer (cottage cheese) marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and yogurt. This dish is usually cooked in a tandoor or on skewers over a flame, but it can also be made in an air fryer for a healthier and more convenient option. Here is a simple recipe that you can follow to make Paneer Tikka in an air fryer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound paneer, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for brushing
  • Lemon wedges and chopped cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, gram flour, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  4. Thread the marinated paneer cubes onto skewers. Brush with oil.
  5. Place the skewers in the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the paneer is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the air fryer and garnish with lemon wedges and chopped cilantro. Serve hot with chutney or raita.

You can serve it with mint chutney, tamarind chutney or curd as per your taste.

Tips:

  • To make the dish more flavorful and spicy, you can add some chopped onion and bell pepper to the marinade along with the paneer.
  • If you don't have skewers, you can also place the marinated paneer cubes directly in the air fryer basket. Just be sure to turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
